Our Story

Chimneyville’s History

Chimneyville Smokehouse Restaurant and Catering is a family style barbeque restaurant and catering service located in the heart of downtown Jackson, Mississippi.  Started more than 20 years ago in a 12x40 trailer with only outside seating available, Chimneyville Smokehouse has grown steadily and is now operating out of the old train depot across from the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.

Starting with a few recipes for smoked meat we have continued to expand our menu to now feature not only fresh hickory smoked barbeque, smoked overnight in our real wood smokers, but also home-style vegetables. Our menu changes regularly, as the seasons change and as new items come in fresh from the garden.

On the catering side of the business, we feature barbeque, Mississippi farm-raised southern-fried catfish, and many other items.  From large corporate caterings to small private parties, our “wherever two or more are gathered” theme has served us well throughout the years. Many events are served from our mobile smoker or grill with cooking done on site, location permitting.

Some of our past highlights:

  • Served on the team of cooks that competed and won the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association Steak Cook-off held in conjunction with the Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo.
  • Asked by Kingsford Charcoal to represent them in New York City by grilling on top of a building, Penthouse 31, when Kingsford entertained and fed magazine food editors for many of the major national monthly magazines headquartered in New York and surrounding areas.
  • Selected as the "Best BBQ" in the WAPT Channel 16 Viewers Choice Awards for 2008.
  • Recently selected as one of the outstanding small business in Jackson, Mississippi, by the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership.

We would very much appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
